MY STORY
How Floristry Made Me the Creative I Was Always Born to Be
As an individual with dyslexia, I encountered several obstacles during my academic journey. My school teachers often subjected me to disheartening criticism. Despite the criticism, my unwavering determination to prove them wrong remained steadfast. Although I didn't have a clear roadmap, I was convinced that a path existed for me and I was resolute in my pursuit of it.
I stumbled upon a floristry course and I thought to myself ‘This will be easy.’ I was mistaken in my assumption about the ease of floristry, although I was correct in my enjoyment of it. In fact, I developed a passion for floristry immediately upon the moment those flowers fell into my hands. It was a gratifying experience to have discovered something I was both innately skilled at and passionate about. I pursued floral design courses for a period of four years, taking advantage of every opportunity to expand my knowledge. The opportunity to learn more about floristry was an invaluable experience, one that I wished to continue indefinitely.
I obtained level 2, 3, and 4 qualifications in floral design and I proceeded to undertake an apprenticeship at a flower shop. After gaining valuable experience and knowledge, I realised it was time to incorporate my own personal flair into the art of floristry. While I valued the traditional approach to floral design, I believed that adding a touch of modern originality would be instrumental in showcasing the limitless possibilities of art. As a result, Monet's Floristry was established, a venture that would allow me to express my creativity and passion for the craft.
